Common Questions

Things people usually ask us.

How often does a fire risk assessment need to be reviewed?
There's no fixed legal requirement for frequency, but it should be reviewed whenever there are significant changes to the premises, its use, or the number or type of occupants. As a general rule, most premises should be reviewed every one to two years.
Do I need a new assessment if I've moved into a building that already has one?
If you become the responsible person for a building with an existing assessment, you should review it to make sure it's still suitable and sufficient. We'd always recommend a fresh assessment when taking on a new premises.
What happens if my premises fails a fire authority inspection?
If the fire authority finds that your fire risk assessment is inadequate, they can issue an enforcement notice — or in serious cases, prohibit occupation of the building. A proper, up-to-date assessment from a qualified assessor is your best protection.
Can you carry out assessments across multiple sites?
Yes — this is one of our specialities. We work with organisations managing large property portfolios and develop rolling assessment programmes that keep every building up to date, with centralised reporting and tracking.
